POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for planning, implementing and supporting EDI processes and applications interfaces; as well as verifying that EDI solutions are performing according to standards. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with EDI data format and EDI mapping (ideally last experience having been within the last five (5) years).
  • Minimum three (3) years working with ANSI X 12 or EDIFACT, or XML.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with VAN, AS2, FTP setups, troubleshooting, security, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (speak, read and write) in English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technological issues in business terms at any level within the organization and with external customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and solve complex problems
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends, as needed.

Preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience with EDI Applications including Cleo Clarify, Harmony, VL Proxy and associated servers.
  • EDI Programming and daily monitoring of Ocean transport EDI documents.
  • Programming Experience using RPG/SYNON Case Tool (Cool/2E)
  • Ocean/Shipping industry experience
  • Experience with Jira and Sprint Methodology.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Review, analyze, and implement mapping and/or programing changes to meet business and customer requirements. 
  • Implement, monitor and maintain EDI systems, including data mapping, translations, and interfaces.
  • Provide EDI and Technical support to internal users, customers, governmental authorities, vendors, out-ports and other external partners on EDI issues.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify and document the cause or resolution.
  • Analyze business applications requirements and recommend systems changes to meet EDI needs.
  • Test, implement and maintain EDI Transactions and EDI Programs.
  • Acquire and maintain in-depth technical skills in a complex and technical environment.
  • Proactive in providing tasks and projects status updates.
  • Participate in department rotating schedule to provide after-hours, holidays and weekend end-user support

Secondary

  • Assist team by analyzing, evaluating and implementing solutions to resolve EDI-related and/or business processes issues that affect existing EDI applications.  These may be reported through JIRA Help Desk Issues, in person, via phone or via e-mail
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of user, operational and technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain EDI documentation.
  • Document steps taken to resolve reported problems.
  • Other Special projects as assigned by Management.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee is continuously required to sit and use his fingers.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Reports to the EDI Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any other position.

 

CONDITIONS:

  • Indoors office, controlled temperature environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to telephones and employees that approach the department.
