POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will provide support to the various areas of the HR department to include but not limited to payroll, benefits, recruiting, training, compliance, etc. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives direct supervision from the Human Resources Manager and indirect supervision from the Regional HR Manager and the Director of HR. Does not exercise supervision over any other position but may request assistance from the department’s administrative staff.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Assist employees with medical & dental insurance; basic & voluntary life insurance; short and long term disability, leave of absence inquiries, Flexible Spending (Section 125), and 401K-retirement plan.
  • Provide benefit orientations, enrollments, and claims processing of insurance.
  • Acts as liaison between employees, insurance providers and to resolve benefit related inquiries and problems and ensure timely & courteous resolution.
  • Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers, assists with, communicating changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by providers.
  • Administer the company’s onboarding program to include pre-employment drug screen and background check program.
  • Coordinates company events, such as health fairs, vendor site visits (i.e. 401k), and employee motivational events (such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day recognition, etc.)
  • Provide back up and support to areas including but not limited to recruiting, medical leaves, workers compensation, training, payroll, etc.

Secondary

  • Take on and handle the overflow with regards to medical leave and workers compensation.
  • Ensures that the established hiring process is followed, documented, and fully complies with the companies AAP and with all current EEO trends, laws and company’s hiring requirements
  • Assist with employee relation matters and interprets regulations and policies as appropriate and consistently
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in training and development.
  • Helps to enforce directives advising department managers of company policy regarding employment, compensation, employee benefits, training and labor relations.
  • Prepares and maintains, SOP and training manuals for various areas in HR.
  • Provide support during audits
  • Attends seminars and educational programs relevant to duties and responsibilities
  • Perform other additional related duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Subject to physical is required along with other tests as applicable
  • The employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear
  • The employee is continuously required to sit
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES:

Required

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience in a corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of COBRA, FMLA, ADAAA, PDA, and EEO, ADEA, VEVRAA rules, laws, guidelines and other applicable local, state and federal laws and practice areas, policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems is a plus
  • Must have Advanced Computer skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook, etc.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish at an Advanced level in a business environment
  • Must have an advanced communication skill in order to communicate at different levels through out the organization and with exterior organizations, candidates, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive employee relations and partner with senior management to drive HR and Business initiatives
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, multitask and possess strong initiative
  • Posses organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and be detail oriented
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Indoors office -  Exposed to controlled temperature and office environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
